research

Emily’s Honours thesis explored the psychological impacts of perceived discrimination against international students, and how the adverse impacts (reduced self-esteem and satisfaction with life) could be alleviated. The results indicated that identification with the international student group buffered against the negative consequences of perceived discrimination.

Emily’s Doctoral thesis was a randomised controlled trial that examined the relative efficacy of two online psychological interventions for alcohol misuse. The results revealed that even brief online interventions could promote significant reductions in alcohol consumption. The results of this study are expected to be published in a psychological journal in the near future.
