your first visit

To make the most out of your time at your first appointment, please complete our online intake form prior to your first visit at Stepping Stones.

Your consultation will last 50 minutes.

During your first appointment, you will have the opportunity to explain your current concerns from your perspective. Your psychologist will ask you about the background of the concerns and will discuss other relevant information. You will have the opportunity to discuss your goals and the estimated number of sessions to help you achieve those goals. Your psychologist will also explain the nature and limitations of confidentiality and go through the client consent form with you.

If you are presenting with your child who has seen other professionals, it is often useful to email reports written by those professionals prior to your first session, if you feel they would assist your psychologist in understanding your concerns.

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, GP Managment Plan or referral letter from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, please either email or bring this along to your first appointment. This will ensure that you are able to claim any eligible rebates through Medicare at a later time.

If you are accessing services through the NDIS please email your letter which confirms eligibility to receive these services prior to your initial consultation. If you are plan managed through the NDIS, please email your plan manager details prior to your initial appointment.

Please feel free to call us on 3902 1572 or to email any questions you may have prior to your first visit to info@steppingstonesqld.com

If for some reason you are unable to attend your appointment, we require 48 hours notification to avoid cancellation fees.
